gig that my folks decided my brothers and I should study voice with her - I am certainly glad they did! She was a true professional. My Dad Vic Lillo played piano for Sherrill many years ago and it was after the. I still remember many of the exercises and singing tips that Sherrill gave us and use them to this day with my vocal students. Sherrill was a role model for me as she showed me what it takes to be a great singer and great teacher. I loved my lessons with Sherrill and would often keep singing long after the lesson. I also took private voice lessons for many years throughout my teens at her house. Sherrill was an incredible singer, teacher and performer! Her enthusiasm and encouragement helped my brothers (Vic and Les Lillo) and I as we worked on 3 part harmonies for our show sets with our group the Lillo's. A notification of the event will be posted on the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home website and on the Facebook pages of Eva, Agnes, David and Michael DeMarco. Due to current Covid restrictions, we will hold a celebration of Sherrill's remarkable life and career in music when time allows. We want to thank the Emergency Responders for their expediency and extraordinary effort in attending to Sherrill that morning, and the Edmonton Police Service for the special care they provided the DeMarco family in our time of need. As per her wishes, cremation took place Tuesday morning, 29 June 2021. An intimate family service was held in her home on the day of her passing. She is survived by her children: Agnes, Eva, Janet, David (Edmonton) and Michael (Helen) (London, England) her grandchildren: Mac (Kiera) (Los Angeles), Hank, Katerina (Edmonton) and Sam (London, England) as well as her nieces and nephew. Sherrill was predeceased by her prodigious grandmother Janet Orme Wallace Barron (Alameda, California), her devoted parents Earl and Agnes Lanyon, her beloved sister Janet Lanyon Blench, her musician husband Hank DeMarco, and his mother Vincenza DeMarco (New York). Born in Edmonton Alberta, Sherrill was raised by her parents, Samuel Earl and Agnes Orme Lanyon, on their farm in Waskateneau Alberta, and in Edmonton, where she attended Garneau School and University High. Sherrill died in her own home in Edmonton, surrounded by her adoring family on June 22, 2021. It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sherrill DeMarco, who, after a glittering operatic career in San Francisco and New York, shared her love of music with generations of singers at Alberta College Conservatory of Music.
